I have begun the search for the trendiest trends to hit the runway for Spring 2019. I have looked through numerous websites and have come to a few conclusions. It should be noted that this is what I have gathered from my own personal research. I would LOVE to hear other opinions about what you're seeing on and off the runway!

One of the trends I have notice for spring 2019 would be the urban Prairie chic look with lots of soft fabrics pastel colors. A lot of outfit seem to be in monochromatic tones ranging from a soft white, off-white, cream, taupe, and tan. Eyelet lace, ruffles, and layers of soft cotton based fabrics are trendy as well. It screams southern charm with a hint of Laura Engles. If you have studied fashion or if it's just a hobby, then you know that fashion almost always repeats. The Urban Prairie reminds me a lot fashions from the 1970's. It has a very feminine quality to it, the light etherial ness to most of the outfits created. It's refreshing after a dull and gray winter. My favorite overall accent is the ruffle. There is a delicate elegances to it that makes me want them on everything I own.

The interesting part, the element that makes these outfits urban, is the use of modern elements that don’t seem to traditionally fit into the overarching theme that main pieces have. Many outfits feature the 90’s style chunky tennis shoes, solid leather/ faux leather shoes, and puffer jackets. When I first looked at these elements, it was a bit jarring. However, the more that you look at them, the more that they fit. It is almost like these pieces are balancing of the soft edges of the overall outfit.

Another trend I have been seeing a lot on the runways would be bold patterns usually containing a bright accent color. I noticed bright coral was prevalent throughout many collections. Along with coral, there were similar colors like orange, red, and yellow. These were often set off by their complements, of green and purple. The geometric patterns are refreshing and daring.

I will be curious to see how these patterns and color pallets make their way into the markets. I am attending MAGIC Las Vegas in a few weeks, I’ll be sure to make notes and report back with my findings!
